Cider & the Canadian Beverage Market

Statistics Canada combines cider with coolers and other refreshment beverages in its national alcohol-sales reporting. For 2024/2025, this combined category generated approximately $2.4 billion in sales and represented about 9.3% of Canadian alcoholic-beverage sales by value.

Important: These figures are not cider sales alone. The reporting category also includes coolers and other refreshment beverages. Cider Canada supports the development of better cider-specific national data.

Cider Canada Industry Estimates

Cider Canada has historically estimated that Canada’s cider sector includes more than 400 producers, produces approximately 39 million litres annually and supports approximately 5,000 full-time and 4,000 part-time jobs.

These figures were developed from industry information rather than a dedicated Statistics Canada cider dataset and should be identified as Cider Canada estimates. They are being reviewed as newer sector data is developed.
